Luke's Deli - Janesville, WI

This is the view driving along Milton. It's relatively easy to miss being nondescript.

It's old school 70's, frozen in time with old charm.

Italian Beef, $5.99. I've never had an Italian with tender beef and this was no different.  The beef was shaved thin and it had an moderate amount of infused flavor.  We chose the mild giardiniera.  It was a little dry and would have been better with a cup of au jus. A solid effort and good for this part of the country.

Corned Beef Reuben, $5.79.  I favored the Reuben over the Italian.  The corned beef was lukewarm and was a little too uniform and lacking the little pockets of craveworthy marbled fat.  The bread was nicely grilled. The sauerkraut and thousand island were perfectly tart and melded well with the melted Swiss cheese.  It was a more than acceptable Reuben but wouldn't rank with the best I've had.

The Special of the Month was Root Beer Float at 99 cents.  It was a decent effort but nothing outstanding.

Luke's offers decent fair.  It may not be Chicago or New York good but it's a nice addition to Wisconsin.
