Italian House - Janesville, WI

This converted fast food restaurant is home to the famous Gondola.

The Gondola Deluxe comprises ham, turkey, salami, pepperoni, Muenster cheese, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onion.  I ordered the half which is 8 inches long but because it has so much bread, it was too much to finish.

The Gondola didn't do anything for my taste buds. It tasted like the quintessential Midwest Ham and Cheese Sandwich of which I am not a fan.  Because of that, it tasted ordinary albeit more moist that the typical ham sandwich. The bread was fresh, dense, and the standout compoment of the sandwich but it was too much.

The Gray's Rootbeer is a refreshing change from the standard root beer.  Maybe because it's made with pure cane sugar or maybe it's my imagination but it tasted lighter, cleaner, and less biting than the corn syrup based rootbeers.

The service was pleasant. This is a nicely kept and clean restaurant.

Bathroom rating:  Didn't use.
