Taqueria Guadalajara - Madison, WI
As I walked in, the first impression was Guadalajara was just a diner already packed with customers but then the host quickly walked up and asked us if we would like seating in the back. Yes! It was much brighter, open, and more inviting in the back.
Huaraches Pastor in the background and Torta Mexicana in the foreground.
The Torta Mexicana is one of their house specialties and understandably so. The Torta arrived steaming hot. The steak was a little tough and chewy but it was ever so fresh and extremely flavorful. The Torta was filled with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, and had the right amount of heat with jalapenos. The package was perfect and falls on my list of the best tortas I've had.
The Huaraches wasn't quite as magical as the Torta and I narrow it down to the pastor which wasn't as hot or as flavorful as the steak. The tortilla was texturally satisfying.
The prices are competitive and the food good. I would put Taqueria Guadalajara on my round of restaurants to revisit.
