Mediterranean Cafe is another State Street institution that seems to have been around forever and its popularity is
warranted.
Akin Plate $6 with lamb shawarma, pita, and a boatload of rice topped with cucumber yogurt sauce. This was a delicious meal with vibrant colors and matching flavors. The lamb was mild but its flavors managed to peek through. The yogurt sauce was bright, tangy, and moist and effortlessly brought together all the flavors of the individual ingredients. This dish just made my mouth and then my whole body feel joyous. This dish was finished too quickly.
I wish the Plate was heavier on the lamb and less on the rice. Mediterranean Cafe is a must return to try their other offerings.
