Voodoo Doughnut is another Portland establishment that has national exposure and is a must stop not only for foodies but for
tourists. Many will stand in line for hours for the experience. With limited time, I chose to forgo the main location where the bizarre hang out and chose Too west of the river.
The shop is located in an unexpected area and I drove right past it on the first go around. I expected bright lights and big signs but instead a slightly psychedelic purple lights up the store front.
Bacon Maple Bar. Many others including luminaries as Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern may enjoy it but I personally didn't. It was overly sweet and the bacon doesn't synchronize with it. Bacon may make everything taste better but it didn't work here. The doughnut was fresh even though it was probably baked hours earlier. My big gripe was the cost at $3. Really?
It didn't live up to the hype but stop in once to say you've done it.
