Axel's Bonfire - Minneapolis St Paul International Airport MSP

Axel's Bonfire is considered one of the better restaurant offerings in the Minneapolis Airport. In that regard the Minneapolis Airport is better than most other large airports in that it has more good restaurants than typical.

Bonfire Classic Burger

The Bonfire Classic is one of Axel's signature dishes and by appearance alone it lives up to that designation.  One test of a great burger is not how it tastes on the first bite but on the last, how you feel about the burger at the end.  The first bite had a fantastic char grilled taste along with a good spicy kick leading me to a wow. The burger that was ordered medium was medium well to well.  The bites were becoming more bland as the toppings overpowered the patty. The last few bites had me wondering what happened to that first bite wow.

  • Bun:  Toasted white bun.  It didn't hold up when with the last few bites. The guts squished out.
  • Toppings: Smoked ham, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, chipotle mayo. The topping flavors dominated.
  • Cheese: Swiss
  • Meat:  1/2 lb fresh Angus ground chuck. It was a little elastic, not as fresh tasting as anticipated.
  • Price: $12.95 including choice of a side
  • Rating: 8.4
Service was pleasant and efficient.

Restroom Rating:  Didn't use
