West Caribbean Cuban Restaurant - Lakeland, FL

West Caribbean feels to be out of place in this older industrial section of town, a step above its surroundings.  The exterior is nondescript but inside is a more upscale decor than anticipated.

While there were a myriad of offerings, I gravitated toward the classic Cubano sandwich along with a Colombiano soda. The soda I'm told was a cola but it tasted like a cream soda.

The Cubano had the traditional elements of ham, pork, cheese, mustard and Cuban bread.  The picture does  not do the size of this beast justice but that's a 12 oz can of soda for comparison. The Cubano is less tart than usual which is great for me but it had too much bread which became a jaw tiring chew near the end.  The bread itself was very good but wasn't as toasted on the outside and soft on the inside as expected.  Overall, it was a very decent but not the best I've had.

Service was slow and inattentive for the most part but OK once the waitress decided to stop by to check up.

I need to try a few more offering before rendering a final decision on West Caribbean.

Restroom Rating:  Didn't use.
